I don't know about you, but I love to reflect at the end of the year.
Whenever we've gotten together with friends on NYE, I'd find a time in the evening to ask everyone what they'd like to achieve, improve, and bring into the next year. Though I'm sure many of our friends probably get annoyed with me for forcing this introspection, I also know that finding that moment of quiet reflection and intention-setting can really help to tee off a great new year.
This year, I know we all may feel tempted to just throw it all away and pray for a better 2021. But although 2020 was probably my hardest year, to-date, i'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and I'd encourage you to take a loving look at the previous year to see how we can actually move forward better and stronger into 2021.
So below, I want to share with you the 5 questions I'll be asking of myself (and those celebrating NYE with me) this year:
What was your favorite moment of 2020?
What lesson(s) did you learn in 2020 that you'd like to always remember?
What do you want to leave behind in 2020 (behaviors, thought patterns, ideas, habits, etc.)
What do you want to experience, or experience more of in 2021?
What single word would you like to set as an intention for yourself in 2021?
Feel free to use these for yourself and your loved ones. Share them aloud or write them in a journal to reflect on.
Before I sign-off for the rest of this year, I'll share with you my answer to #5. In 2021, the word I'm bringing forward into all aspects of my life is, ENGAGE. 2020 has left me hungry for, and appreciative of the value of meaningful interactions. This new year I want to bring the intention of full presence, energy, and love in order to best ENGAGE with the people and this world around me.
I'll see you in the New Year friends. Wishing you and yours a graceful end to this turbulent year.
